Lilian Jackson Brown. 2004. Quirky mystery. Latest in the Cat who series. You need to start at the beginning of the series with "The Cat who read backwards" but I like the French covers better for the series. The publishers took the illustrations of cats by a well know artist (the name escapes me right now) who did beautiful if sometimes strange illustrations of cats in the early XX century- late XIX century.
