A Great Deliverance (Inspector Lynley Mysteries, No. 1)

A Great Deliverance (Inspector Lynley #1) - Elizabeth George I remember why I stopped reading Elizabeth George. The psychological violence combined with a graphic description of situations and actions is in your face, you can't ignore it and she won't let you look away. Linley is as ambiguous as I remembered but I had forgotten quite a bit about Havers. I now remembered why I stopped reading after the third one in the series, George's style is crossing the line for me into something I have difficulty reading. Not that it's not good storytelling, it's just not something I want to read for pleasure.
