Another soft, very soft 3 stars. More like 2.5 stars. It's been quite a few years since I've really liked the yearly Temperance Brennan book. Since book 7 actually. This is like a really confused, twisted version of what's in the box combined with a nice but still travelogue of Hawaii. A body is found in a pond in the Eastern Township in Quebec of a killed in action Vietnam vet. At the end of the book, after turning out 2 other bodies, a trip to Hawaii to the POW/MIA centre, two bodies fed to sharks, add a few murders and kidnapping attempts and a draft dodger you end up with an obscure genetic (Chimera) rabbit out of the hat resolution that leaves a bad taste in your mind. Wow. Maybe I should change the rating to 2 stars. On the other hand, there are some good characters in there but they are only seen briefly. I'm thinking about the father who is certain his son is his son, the pair of Hawaii detectives.I'm at the point where I'm not gonna automatically buy the new one when it comes out but wait a few months, a year and get it through Bookmooch.
