Un Mese Con Montalbano (Oscar Bestsellers) (Italian Edition)

Un mese con Montalbano - Andrea Camilleri Anthology of 30 short stories (hence the month of the title) written between 1996 an 1998 all featuring Commissario Montalbano in various times of his career. From a very young Montalbano starting out in Vigata to a weathered down Montalbano with his usual crew of Mimi, Fazio and the ever charming Catarella. Short stories with all the scents and colours of Sicily and the mixed marriage of old traditional values, mafia roots and very modern life. One story especially got to me "Un coin de paradis" "A Piece of Paradise" where Montalbano goes on a picnic on a beach with his lady love Livia in a row boat. This beautiful space of white sand and peace hides a very disturbing truth and Montalbano can't help but intervene. It's a short piece but it has everything you expect from a Montalbano story : good food, some philosophical whinning from Montalbano and some very human and incredible action from a man you would be very proud to call a friend. If you read French, this is a wonderful anthology to discover in between the books of the series.
