This is a pretty simple tale of a man, the strong silent and I do mean silent type, who goes around the world by all means available in 80 days just because his honour and a wager demand it. Put like that the plot of Phileas Fogg tale of actions, perils and heroic deeds sounds silly and it is. This is mostly a travelogue from the eyes of Fogg's domestic Passepartout who is a much more interesting character than the leading character. Still, the story has some very annoying things in it (race issues, stereotypes : race, gender and religious) that I found took me out of the story more and more as the book progressed. 3 stars mostly because of the nostalgia.
