Soie de Alessandro Baricco (Fiche de lecture) (French Edition)

Soie de Alessandro Baricco (Fiche de lecture) (French Edition) - le Petit Littéraire Short but with a lot of emotions. Baricco tells the story of a man living a very predictable, uneventful life thru an extraordinary journey. Hervé transports silk eggs every October he leaves his beloved wife, his village and goes to fetch the crop of eggs for next year. He arrives home like clockwork in time for the mass on the first Sunday of April. When a disease strikes the northern African silk eggs, Hervé is sent to Japan and there time stands still for the first time. The mistress of the local merchant/war lord mesmerizes Hervé and he lives for the next few years for the moments he gets to see her. One night, one single night, one tragic trip then nothing but a letter. Hervé goes back to his predictable life, his beloved Hélène who loves him more than he'll ever know. This was intense and lovely.
