The Song of Achilles: A Novel

The Song of Achilles - Madeline Miller More like 3 1/2 stars. First person narrative in Patroclus voice. It has the good things and the flaws of a first novel. The author is passionate about the subject but tells more than she shows. The best part is the period with Chiron. The whole Troy affair is too long and doesn't have the strenght of a strong voice narrating the behind the scenes drama. The reader knows the tale and kinda expects something different. I expected something different. The relationship between Patroclus and Achilles is strong but not really adknowledge and the end left a bitter taste. Overall I am glad I read it but maybe I expected too much.
