Butchers Hill: A Tess Monaghan Novel (Tess Monaghan Mysteries)

Butchers Hill: A Tess Monaghan Novel - Laura Lippman A good solid mystery with strong women characters. Showcases Baltimore and the people living there. It's a slice of the late 1990's with the technology of the time (era of brick cell phones, early work access Internet). Tess Monaghan has set up shop as a private detective and her first cases bring mystery, mayhem and chaos in the family. I really like this series. It has grit, it's not too noir, it shows the era like a time bubble I can go back to. Strong, capable and competent women characters. Not only the lead but the secondary recurring characters and the characters specific to the cases. A series worth discovering.
