L'Homme à l'envers (French Edition)

L'homme à l'envers - Fred Vargas In this one, the reader is transported in rural mountain area France, where some Italian wolves have migrated back and made a home for themselves. A giant wolf starts to kill sheep and humans. Camille that we met briefly in the first Adamsberg novel is driving (literally) the plot in this twisted mystery. Vargas succeeds in making the reader feel the fear, the smell all the filth, sweat and odors, hear the sounds of the truck, on these mountain roads. The ending is a surprise but that's nothing new in Vargas' novels. The clues are there but the reader is so involved in following the characters that you don't really see them. Adamsberg shows up half way into the book, takes command of the plot and drives the story to its logical end. I liked this one. Looking forward to the next title.
