Second book in the series where we follow Laurence and Temeraire on their way to China. This is more a coming of age story then a naval action historical story (book 1). Here, Temeraire is going home to discover his roots and Laurence goes with him in the hopes of being allowed to keep Temeraire with him in England. Both Temeraire and Laurence do a lot of growing up in this. It's as interesting and fun to read as the first one but with less action and more of a inner journey feeling.
