3.5 stars. A solid but heartbreaking Brunetti story. As grey as autumn falling on the city. Not a lot of the secondary characters in this one. It's almost Brunetti all time with a few interludes with Paola. Signora Electra and Vianello are mostly plot avancing characters in this tale of deceit, bigoted morality and despair. You end up with a bruised heart along with a bit of anger towards the injustice of it all. Not happy happy joy joy ending here. Then again, happily ever after ending are not something you expect from Leon. You kinda expect life with all its injustices, grey spaces and warts.
